END OF YEAR REPORT 2009

Daniels first race of the season went very well considering he had no time to test the kart out. It was also new for the team running the kart. Luckily for us we did not have many problems for the first few races.

Daniel looked very comfortable for the first part of the season collecting good championship points.

The turning point came in May.

Daniel got hit bending his rear axle; we had to fix it temporally to keep him in the race. He was able to complete the race not losing to many points.

June again raced very well but was in collision with another kart knocking his lead weights off. This put Daniel well under weight at the end off the race. Red Lodge had no choice but to exclude him costing him 30 points.

August not much better had no luck, he raced brilliantly only to get hit in the final, knocking his chain off putting him out off points and a certain trophy.

With the last race off the season, Daniel had a lot of pressure on him as there was 4 other drivers all fighting him for 2^nd place in the championship.

But with heavy rain for the first time Daniel showed how good he is by being the fastest on the track winning two heats and getting 3^rd in the final. This got him the points he needed to keep him 2^nd place in the championship.

Overall another brilliant season ending the season with a total of 13 trophies.

14^th November Prokart Clubman

Weather – Heavy Rain

Heat 1 – Started 2^nd and finished 1^st with a lap time of 59.48 secs

Heat 2 – Started 3^rd and finished 1^st with a lap time of 56.67 secs

Heat 3 – Started 14^th and finished 7^th with a lap time of 53.59 secs

The Race

Daniel started in 2^nd place and got off to a slow start, went right back to 5^th place. But it only took him a couple off laps to get back 2 places.

Daniel was racing very closely to Thomas Ebbs for the rest off the race. Daniel and Thomas both raced well and there was never much between them.

Thomas managed to hold Daniel off and he finished in 3^rd place.

A brilliant days racing in very wet conditions which Daniel loves, he was able to prove this by winning 2 heats and finishing 7^th after starting in 14^th place in the 3^rd heat.

His best time off the day was 52.59 secs

A GREAT WAY

10^th October Prokart Clubman

Weather – Cloudy

Heat 1 – Started 14^th and finished 7^th with a lap time of 52.78 secs

Heat 2 – Started 3^rd and finished 1^st with a lap time of 49.76 secs

Heat 3 – Started 15^th and finished 7^th with a lap time of 49.36 secs

The Race

Daniel had a nightmare in qualifying as he only was able to do 5 laps. Daniel crashed into a tyre wall bending his track rod and damaging his wheel.

But brilliant driving in all the heats and he started the race final in 4^th place.

Race started and Daniel lost two places at the first bend, but within 2 laps he got back up to 5^th place. It was hard work for Daniel to keep his place but he done so finishing 5^th with his best lap time off 48.95 secs.

A hard days racing in tricky track conditions.

12^th September Prokart Clubman

Weather – Dry and Sunny

Heat 1 – Started 7^th and finished 8^th with a lap time of 48.57 secs

Heat 2 – Started 8^th and finished 7^th with a lap time of 48.62 secs

Heat 3 – Started 9^th and finished 6^th with a lap time of 48.41 secs

The Race

Daniel started 8^th on the grid and went straight into 7^th place. On a very hot day it was very hard racing as 10 other drivers were all lapping under 48 seconds.

Daniel raced well all day and finished the race in 6^th Place with his best time of the day which was 48.41 seconds. Near his personal best of the season.

8^th August Prokart Clubman

Weather – Sunny

Heat 1 – Started 4^th and finished 4^th with a lap time of 48.23 secs

Heat 2 – Started 1^st and finished 1^st with a lap time of 48.11 secs

Heat 3 – Started 10^th and finished 2^nd with a lap time of 48.43 secs

The Race

Started 2^nd and Daniel got off to a bad start. Before the lights went green a driver next to Daniel was warming his tyres up and hit Daniel knocking his chain off.

Race got delayed and we were able to get Daniels chain back on the race started.

Daniel was able to keep in 2^nd place for the first 5 laps and then his chain came off again and that was the end of his race.

No luck in the final but raced well in all his heats. He was able to beat his personal best lap time of the season with a time off 48.11 secs.

Also in heat 3 he put up a great performance to come from 10^th to 2^nd place

Great Racing

11^th July Prokart Clubman

Weather – Dry

Heat 1 – Started 6^th and finished 8^th with a lap time of 49.59 secs

Heat 2 – Started 8^th and finished 7^th with a lap time of 49.68 secs

Heat 3 – Started 8^th and finished 4^th with a lap time of 49.07 secs

The Race

Daniel started in 7^th place and it didn’t take him long to get into 5^th place, after ten laps Daniel was into 3^rd.

With ten laps to go Daniel had the championship leader on his tail, and did a great job to hold him off but he was able to get past Daniel with one lap to go.

Still a good days racing to get 4^th in the final with his best time of the day in the final which was a 49.24 secs.

13^th June Prokart Clubman

Weather – Sunny

Heat 1 – Started 6^th and finished 8^th with a lap time of 49.17 secs

Heat 2 – Started 14^th and finished 3^rd with a lap time of 48.85 secs

Heat 3 – Started 4^th and finished 4^th with a lap time of 48.71 secs

The Race

Daniel started 3^rd on the grid and got off to a great holding his position round the first bend.

After 4 laps Daniel was pushing for 2^nd place then the leader spun and Daniel done well to avoid contact, but in doing so Daniel was overtaken by 4 other drivers putting him back into 6^th place.

With only 3 laps to go Daniel worked his way up to 3^rd place but something came off Daniels kart. It wasn’t until the end off the race that we could see Daniel had lost one off his lead weights and this put Daniel well underweight. So Red Lodge had no choice but to exclude him.

It was such bad luck as Daniel worked so well especially in Heat 2 coming from 14th to 3rd was great racing.

9^th May ProKart Clubman

Weather – overcast

Heat 1 – started 2^nd and finished 2^nd with a lap time of 48.53 sec

Heat 2 – started 13^th and finished 3^rd with a lap time off 48.83 sec

Heat 3 – started 6^th and finished 1^st with a lap time off 48.62 sec

The Race

Daniel started in 2^nd place and got off to a great start went round first bend with two other drivers, the leader got away leaving Daniel tangled with two other drivers, Daniel came out worst putting him back to 6^th place, leaving him a lot to do too catch the leaders.

One by one he worked his way up to 3^rd with his fastest time of the day 48.53 seconds which was in heat 1.

It was a hard days racing for Daniel due to in qualifying he bent his axle and was lucky to get it fixed in time for the racing.

With a damaged kart to get 3^rd is a great achievement, he also bet his personal best lap time again for the 4^th time in a row.

19^th April Topkatz 1 ½ endurance race (normal track)

Daniel partnered with Thomas Ebbs (10 teams)

Thomas started and qualified in 3^rd place and went straight into 2^nd place at the first bend.

After a great start Thomas was hit and that left him and Daniel in last place.

Daniel came out and had a great session got back into 4^th, and Daniel also finished the last session of the race and got up to 3^rd.

He finished the race right on the tail of the 2^nd place driver.

Great racing by Thomas and Daniel, they also got the 2^nd fastest lap time of the race which was 38.81 seconds

11^thApril ProKart Clubman

Weather – mixed weather (rain / dry)

Heat 1 – started 10^th and finished 10^th with a lap time of 52.92 secs

Heat 2 – started 16^th and finished 8^th with a lap time of 49.54 secs

Heat 3 – started 2^nd and finished 5^th with a lap time of 49.18 secs

The Race

Daniel qualified in 8^th place after 3 difficult heats changing from wets to slicks. The weather was making it a nightmare on what tyres to use.

With Daniel starting in 8^th we decided to use slicks hoping that the rain would keep away.

Daniel had a good start keeping his position at the first bend, as the tyres started to get warm Daniel went through the field one by one.

He finished the race in 2^nd place. Brilliant racing coming from 8^th to finish 2^nd with the 3^rd fastest lap of the day, which was 48.85 seconds.

5^th April Topkatz 1 ½ endurance race (short track)

Daniel partnered Alistair Topliss (11 teams)

Daniel and Alistair Topliss used to race each other indoor but today they were partners.

They both raced well through out the day and were in the top 5 for most of the race.

In the end they finished 3^rd with the 4^th fastest lap time of the day which was 24.45 seconds.

14^th March ProKart Clubman

Weather – Cloudy but dry track

Heat 1 – started 2^nd and finished 2^nd with a lap time of 49.11 secs

Heat 2 – started 14^th and finished 4^th with a lap time of 49.18 secs

Heat 3 – started 2^nd and finished 1^st with a lap time of 48.96 secs

Final – started 1^st and finished 3^rd

The Race

Daniel started pole in the final and got off well holding onto first place at the first bend.

After three laps Daniel had two other drivers pushing for the lead. On the top straight the second place driver pushed Daniel out and this cost him three places putting him back to 4^th place.

Daniel got one place back and that is where he finished. A bit disappointing as Daniel raced brilliantly all weekend, especially in heat 2 coming from 14^th to finish 4^th, a great achievement.

14^th February ProKart Clubman

Weather – sunny and cold

Heat 1 – started 2^nd and finished 2^nd with a lap time of 50.38 secs

Heat 2 – started 7^th and finished 1^st with a lap time of 50.37 secs

Heat 3 – started 4^th and finished 1^st with a lap time of 49.83 secs

Final – started 1^st and finished 2^nd with a lap time of 49.49 secs

The Race

Daniels first race out in his new kart and what a day he had.

After 3 heats Daniel qualified pole for the final and was able to stay there at the first corner.

Daniel and M Dorling were very close in all of the heats and there wasn’t much between them in the Final either.

Daniel was doing well holding Dorling but at the first corner he made contact with Daniel and that cost him 1^st place. Dorling got a warning flag for this.

Daniel done well to keep up with him, and ended losing out by 3 seconds.

After the race Dorling came up too Daniel and apologised for the incident which is a credit to him as they both raced brilliantly.

A great way to start the championship

1^st February Topkatz 1 ½ Endurance race (normal track)

Partnered with Oliver Wheddon (10 teams)

Daniel and Oliver have been partners before and done well, Daniel decided to qualify and soon got into top form qualifying in first place.

But before the race Daniel had to change the kart due to technical trouble.

With a cold kart Daniel got off too a slow start but still stayed in 2^nd place.

Daniel and Oliver raced really well in all off there sessions and it was a very close race.

Only 25 seconds separated the first four teams.

Daniel and Oliver finished in 2^nd place with the second fastest lap time of 39.40 seconds.

Top Katz 18^th January normal track

Partnered with Brad Cator (10 teams)

Daniel partnered with his mate Brad Cator for the first time.

In qualifying the kart looked very slow so we decided to change the kart before the race started.

They started in 7^th place with the new kart and Brad had a good session, got up to 4^th place.

Daniel didn’t take long to be the fastest on the track with a time of 43.04.

Daniel and Brad looked very good in every session and they soon got up to 2^nd place 15 seconds from winning. There time was the second quickest of the day.

A great start for 2009.

END OF YEAR REPORT 2008

Daniels first season outdoor and what a season it proved to be.

In the 2 stroke Rotax Daniel beat his personal best lap time six times, and ended up finishing in 5th place in this very difficult class.

In the 4 stroke Daniel looked comfartable every race all season. in what ever kart Daniel was in he was one of the quickest in any conditions. In the wet mainly you could see Daniels talent greater, he was the smoothest and the quickest and this is what won him the championship.

He won a total of 16 trophies.

The plan for 2009 is to be concentrating on the Pro Kart Clubman championship, Look out for number 40.
