END OF YEAR REPORT 2007

December 2, 2007
Topkatz Results - December Race

Daniel was partnered with Runo Russo.

This was the first wet race for both drivers, so they qualified in 6th place in a larger than usual field

This was good experience for both drivers especially for Runo who is only 11 years old.

In normal conditions Daniel laps around 40 seconds, however conditions were so bad there fastest time was down to 54.40 seconds and they ended the race maintaining a respectable position of 6th place

December 1, 2007
Junior Club 2000 Race Results

This race was purely to give Daniel experience for the up and coming season.

Daniel will be racing the full year in a KnK Rotax Kart prepared by Conquest Technologies for 2008.

This was a cold and wet day which made the conditions even trickier for Daniel’s practice. The Race consists of a Practise Session, Three Qualifying Rounds & the Main Race.

First Qualifying Session – Daniel was still getting accustomed to the kart and was not able to balance the brakes at first and unfortunately cooked them on the fast corner coming onto the start / finish straight and took the kart in the tyres  at 50 MPH.

Second Qualifying Session – This went successfully and Daniel was getting to know the kart a bit better.

Third Qualifying Session – The third and final qualifier Daniel was shunted off the track of the opening lap which caused the accelerator chain to break thus putting out of the session.

Main Race – First corner there was a bit of an incident with 2 or 3 karts going off, but Daniel managed to re-gather himself and completed the race with no further incident.

November 18, 2007
Topkatz Results - November Race 2

Daniel was Partnered with James Oakley and they qualified 2nd on the grid.

After 20 laps they were second and made an early pit stop which worked brilliantly after 28 laps they were in the lead and there was no stopping them from there. Daniel and James were both lapping just under 40 seconds continuously.

This was the coldest day of the year (so far) and they ended up with the Fastest lap of the day at 39.65 seconds which was a brilliant time under the conditions.

They were victorious & won the race with lap in hand and up to three laps on the backmarkers.

November 4, 2007 - Red lodge
Results from 1½ Hour Endurance Race

Daniel was partnered with Andrew English for the November 4th endurance race.

Their qualifying time put them in fourth position on the grid & both Daniel and Andrew worked very well together and the pit stops worked very well as planned.

Daniel had a very good race he recorded his fastest lap time on the track at a time of 39.47 seconds & by the end of the race they had managed to make up a place and finished in 3rd position.

July 29, 2007 - Angia Karting
Results from July 100 Lapper Race

Daniel secured third position on the starting grid for what was going to turn out to be a hard fought race.

Daniel came out of the first lap still in third position, but was being held up by the two ahead, so came in for his first of two mandatory pit stops. This gave him clear track and went flat out to make up track position.

Once all the pit-stop had been complete Daniel had managed to move up into second position & was catching the leader. Due to a car fault by the leader the yellow flags were out, the leader car replaced and the leader resumed in the position he was in before the fault (as per the track rules).

Due to the yellows all cars had caught up with each other and were in a close line, Daniel tried to take the leader immediately upon the restart, but unfortunately couldn’t pass and third place slipped up the inside of him when he backed off the leader.

Daniel was now down to third on the 68th lap. On lap 69 the leader again has kart problems. Due to a lack of replacement karts the race was ended with the current positions and the leaders first intact.
Daniels Finishing Position was third.

July 15, 2007 - Red Lodge
Results of Frist Ever 2 Hour Endurance Race

This was the first ever 2 hour endurance race held at Red Lodge & participating in this race were 14 drivers, totalling 7 teams. Daniel was partnered with James Oakley.

During the offtset of the race there was a problem with the kart and within the first 3 laps they had to bring it into the pits to exchange it for another.

The whole predicament took a total of nearly 80 seconds putting them at the back of the grid nearly 2 laps behind (average lap time in these karts is around 41 - 42 seconds).

Both Daniel & James put foot to floor lapping consistently in times of around 40 seconds and managed to claw their way back up into 4th position. After 1 hour & 45 mins the race was stopped early due to refuelling not being factored into the race and all of the karts were running low. All positions stood from this point giving Daniel & James a 4th place finish.

During the race their fasted lap acquired was the time of 39.5 seconds.

July 1, 2007 - Red Lodge
Pole & Won First 1½ Hour Endurance Race

Red Lodge: 1½ Hour Endurance Race

This was Daniel’s first race driving officially as a “Grade 1” driver

There were sixteen drivers as a whole driving in teams of two, totalling eight cars on track.

Daniel partnered with Barnaby Woodbridge. Barnaby was in kart for qualifying and took pole position for himself and Daniel.

The hour and a half race started well and with only twenty minutes remaining they had gained a healthy lead lapping everyone up unto second position and leading them by about 30 seconds, however the weather then turned and it started to rain heavily.

This was their first race on a wet track so a big new experience for Daniel. All drivers including Daniel were spinning and sliding heavily at virtually every bend. However the driver in second place had a bit of experience in the wet and was gradually catching him.

Luckily the rain stopped after about five minutes and the track started to dry. Daniel held onto the first position and won the race.

During the race they also acquired the fastest lap time of 39.77 seconds.

June 24, 2007 - Anglia Karting (June Race)

Finished in 6th place (Problems with kart)

June 3, 2007 - Red Lodge

Finished 2nd in charity endurance race

Red Lodge: CLIC Sargent Charity Event.

A great day on Sunday 3rd June at Red Lodge as there was a full days racing in aid of CLIC Sargent cancer charity careing for children, which raised in excess of eight thousand pounds.

The second three hour team race included Daniel in the Top Katz team. They led from the end of the first lap and also acquired the fastest lap of the race during lap fifteen and at one point had over a laps lead on the circuit.

Unfortunately due to time, tactics and an accident mid race the lead was lost, but Top Katz maintained second place and chased the leaders back to being only eight seconds behind for the finish.

All fourteen teams had a great day including James Kemball's Suffolk Truckers who finished in ninth place ( mind you we forget how many times they were lapped! :-) ).
